We are excited to announce that on August 5th, 2023, scientists, both professional and citizen, will conduct a one-day biodiversity survey of our 93 acres. Called a BioBlitz, this is a program of The Clifton Institute in Warrenton, Virginia.

From early morning to 10 p.m. (bring your moth light!), observers will try to find and document as many species of flora, fauna and fungi as they can. The results will be summarized on their website using iNaturalist.
At Two Owls Farm, we feel especially grateful to have been invited to participate. With the variety here--meadows, river, creek, forest patches and granite outcrops--there is a chance to see more than birds and plants. Our headwaters portion of the upper Rappahannock should reveal a wide array of aquatic invertebrates and fish. As the event nears, we will keep you updated. And if you are interested in volunteering, reach out to Executive Director Bert Harris at www.cliftoninstitute.org.
